Privacy
Short, because this site collects almost nothing.
What we store
One thing, and it never leaves your device: your light or dark theme preference, and your recent searches, both kept in your browser’s local storage. Clearing your browser data removes them. Neither is sent to us.
Audience measurement
We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and see which guides people read. It is cookieless: it sets nothing on your device, does not follow you between sites, and does not build a profile of you. What we see is aggregate — how many people read a page, roughly where in the world they were, which page sent them, and whether they were on a phone or a desktop. We cannot tell who you are from any of it.
What we do not do
- No advertising, and no advertising networks.
- No cookies.
- No accounts, so no personal data to lose.
- No cross-site tracking, and nothing sold or shared with data brokers.
- No third-party embeds that would load code from another company.
Server logs
This site is hosted on Vercel, which records standard request logs (IP address, user agent, requested path) for operational and security purposes. We do not query those logs to build profiles of readers. Vercel’s own privacy terms apply to that data.
Search
Searches run against an index held on our server. The query is processed to return results and is not stored or associated with you.
Links out
Articles cite external sources. Once you follow one of those links you are on someone else’s site under their policies, not ours.
Changes
If we ever add an email newsletter, or collect anything beyond the aggregate counts described above, this page changes before that goes live, not after. Questions: hello@theknotjournal.com.
